The largest unionization campaign in publisher history

Employees of Hachette Book Group, one of the five largest publishing companies, are forming a labor union. The Hachette Workers Union is the largest union in the history of trade publishing, according to the News Guild. The announcement calls on eligible Hachette employees to sign cards in support of unionization and calls on all supporters to sign an open letter of solidarity. HWC’s demands include “livable wages regardless of location, better working conditions, caps on working hours, a clear and neutral grievance process, protections for AI, and compliance with DEI policies.”
