Well, well, well, look what we have here. The trailer for the latest installment of the Hunger Games series has been released. Suzanne Collins’ adaptation of 2025 Sunrise of the Reap looks like it has all the drama, style, and strong cinematic score you’d expect. I won’t say any more. Take a look here.

Hey, Tolkien hated Disney?

Imagine JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis sitting in a theater sulking at Disney snow white Like the real-life Statler and Waldorf. Well, it’s nice to know that this actually happened. Josh Jones wrote about Tolkien’s distaste for the works of Walt Disney and Disney Studios. open culturealso includes the author’s response to the 1937 animated classic, which was released a few months after The Hobbit was published. Tolkien and his friends in The Chronicles of Narnia took popcorn, a joint of mutton, or whatever the British were eating at the theater at the time, and figuratively threw it at the seven dwarfs (dwarfs in Tolkien’s and my terminology). In a 1964 letter, Tolkien said of Disney movies:

There’s something admirable or fascinating about most of the “pictures” that come out of his studio, but the impact of all of them is disgusting to me. Some people feel nauseous…

Tolkien was so angry at Disney’s “oversimplification” of fairy tales that he forbade his studio from touching his creations. oh yeah.
