
The New York Times Shares Their 100 Notable Books of 2025
It’s the season for best books of the year lists, from Barnes & Noble’s #1 overall book to NPR’s expansive 384-book list. new york times The list falls somewhere in between, and includes 100 books of fiction and nonfiction selected by NYT staff.
As you might imagine, there’s a lot of literary fiction being published, including David Zareh’s Flesh and Kiran Desai’s The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny. But there are many other genres that come into play, including romance (August Lane by Regina Black), horror (Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones), and fantasy (Katabasis by RF Quan). new york times It has been described as “a dazzling and strange piece of fiction” (Amy Barodale’s “Trip”).
Here, you’ll find familiar titles such as the best-selling Sunrise to Reap by Suzanne Collins, Careless People by Sarah Wynne Williams, and the award-winning We Do Not Part by Han Kang. Some books are on most other best books of the year lists, like One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Against This by Omar El Akkad.
Some of them are lesser known, such as “What is Queer Food?” John Birsall, The Colony by Annika Nolin, and The Night Watch: A Poem by Kevin Young.
