Staff Reporter: The prize distribution ceremony of Chandrakumar De Book Review Competition-2026 was held at Kendua, Netrakona. The main theme of the program was – “Learning is the light of knowledge” in the afternoon of Friday (May 29) in Kendua Upazila Parishad hall. Rafiqul Islam Hilali. President of Upazila BNP. Under the chairmanship of Zainal Abedin Bhuya, Upazila Executive Officer Md. was the special guest. Rifatul Islam Saroj Mostafa, Associate Professor of Bengali Department of Netrakona Government College and Head of the Department spoke as the main speaker. Assistant Professor of Bengali Department of Netrakona University was the co-discussor. Saddam Hussain and Daily Prothom Alo District Representative Pallab Chakraborty. The program was conducted by Hafsa Islam Moh. Prizes were distributed among 10 winners who participated in the competition. At this time, the speakers said that books enlighten people and there is no alternative to reading in order to build a knowledge-based society. They also commented that such an event will play an important role in making the young generation book-oriented. The speakers emphasized on continuing such events in the future to present the life and works of Chandrakumar, one of the collectors, poets and essayists of Mymensingh Geetika to the new generation. Chief guest Dr. Rafiqul Islam Hilali announced a grant to operate a public library in the upazila premises to preserve the history and heritage of Kendua. Note that Chandrakumar Dey (1889-1946) was a child of Aithor village in Kendua upazila of Netrakona. He was one of the most famous collectors and writers of Mymensingh Gitakar.
