Five Publishers and Scott Turow Sue Mehta and Mark Zuckerberg
You can probably guess what this lawsuit is about by reading the headline. Publishers Hachette, Macmillan, McGraw Hill, Elsevier, and Cengage, along with bestselling author Scott Turow, are suing Mehta and Mark Zuckerberg for copyright infringement, alleging that the company and its founder illegally used their work to train the artificial intelligence program Llama. As an author, I welcome this kind of behavior and hope to see a solution similar to what happened with Anthropic. We teach our kids in school that they can’t copy and paste someone else’s work without attribution because that’s called plagiarism, but AI companies don’t seem to be paying attention to that very simple standard.

ticket price for odyssey Soars to $1,000 on eBay
Ticket sales for Christopher Nolan’s film began yesterday afternoon. odyssey— and they immediately got confused. Wait times on AMC’s website exceeded an hour at one point, and tickets for IMAX screenings in New York, Texas, Florida and Arizona quickly sold out. Scalpers are now selling these tickets on eBay for hundreds of dollars, with some reaching $1,000. odyssey is the “first full-length feature film shot entirely with IMAX cameras,” and director Nolan encourages audiences to see it in this format…but I have a hard time imagining that this difference in quality is worth $1,000.
