Book Review: And Now, Back To You by B. K. Borison
If you like to read with the seasons, a story set against the backdrop of an unprecedented snowstorm might not exactly scream spring. But you might want to make an exception with B. K. Borison’s And Now, Back to You, which is so full of warmth, heart and giddy, foot-kicking romance that you’ll forget all about matching the setting of your book to the time of year.
Following on from last year’s First Time Caller, this second instalment in the Heartstrings series follows Jackson and Delilah, two opposing meteorologists who must work together when their respective news stations partner up. The problem is, Jackson and Delilah can’t seem to be within five feet of each other without their interactions ending in disaster. Whilst Jackson thrives on routine and organisation from the safety of his radio booth, spontaneous Delilah loves to be out in the field, meeting new people and seeking out adventures. Neither of them are thrilled about the prospect of sharing the camera, but as they settle in for the snowstorm of the century, they discover that they make a pretty brilliant team.
With Delilah eager to be taken seriously as a journalist, and Jackson in desperate need of rediscovering his long-lost fun side, the two weather-obsessed reporters form an unexpected friendship that quickly tumbles into more. As the temperature outside drops, the chemistry between them rises. And when real feelings start to enter the equation, there’s more at stake than just their professional reputations. The ratings might be up and viewers might be shipping them, but can Jackson and Delilah’s not-so-secret romance withstand the storm?
Things with us have never been simple or easy, but I’d rather be messy with you than have perfect with anyone else.“
There’s something so lovely about picking up the stories of endearing side characters from a previous book and giving them a chance to shine, which is exactly what B. K. Borison does with Jackson and Delilah. When And Now, Back To You begins, Jackson already feels like an old friend and it doesn’t take long for Delilah to feel like one too. Contemporary romances aren’t always populated by genuinely kind and authentic characters but this one is, making it easy to root for the central couple. It helps that everyone else in the book – with a few troublesome exceptions including Delilah’s repugnant boss – is also rooting for them.
There’s more than just the romance for readers to invest in here. Borison gives her characters complicated family baggage to unpack, toxic workplace struggles to fight against, and personal insecurities to push through. It’s also such a joy to get little snippets of Aiden and Lucie’s life together after the events of First Time Caller. Borison makes readers believe in love and second chances and the goodness of people, and in a world where life can feel increasingly dark, we need more books like that.

Everything about And Now, Back to You – from the cosy mountain lodge setting to the only-one-bed forced proximity to the grumpy x sunshine dynamic – is designed to wrap readers in a comforting, blanket-like embrace. Whilst it can occasionally feel like the story is repeating the same emotional and romantic beats as Borison’s previous books, it’s a delightful, heart-warming formula that readers – this one included – will never grow tired of. Now we begin the wait for book three, which promises a fun twist on Nora Ephron’s classic rom-com, You’ve Got Mail.
