Rachel Reid says her Parkinson’s disease symptoms are worsening, delaying installments of their heated rivalry

In an Instagram post, Rachel Reid revealed that her Parkinson’s disease symptoms have worsened, forcing her to postpone the release of the next book in her Unrivaled series (of which “Rivals” is also a part). It was scheduled to be published this fall, but has now been postponed to June 2027. “When something good happens, sometimes the universe gives you something worse to compensate for it. In my case, it made my Parkinson’s symptoms get a little worse, which made it physically difficult for me to write,” Reid said.

Wake to the Washington Post books section

Apparently hundreds of people gathered over the weekend to mourn the loss of The Washington Post Book World, and many of the paper’s past and present luminaries (Bob Woodward, Marty Barron, etc.) were also in attendance. As the New York Times reported, there was a rare question-and-answer session. “Saturday’s event was an unusual funeral, with a question-and-answer session at the end. One attendee asked how we should approach responsible capitalism, and another wondered how advances in technology will affect the future of writing, citing Greek philosopher Heraclitus.” I can’t decide whether this is funny, sad, beautiful, or all three.
