Booksology The trailer for “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,” a film adaptation of the latest Hunger Games book, has been released. It opens with an almost unrecognizable Glenn Close as Drusilla Sickle being escorted towards the podium.
The latest installment of this hugely popular series is based on the book of the same name and follows a young Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada. Haymitch was selected to participate in the 50th Hunger Games, along with nearly 50 other children, twice the usual number of tributes.
In the trailer, Drusilla can be heard saying, “Twice as many tributes, twice as much glory,” as the camera pans over the tributes standing in a circle in a field. The 10 o’clock countdown begins and we see young mourners preparing to begin the Hunger Games.
We watch Haymitch flirt with his lover, played by Whitney Peake, and fight other tributes for survival in the pre-Olympic period. Other major actors also appear, including Elle Fanning, Ralph Fiennes, and Jesse Plemons.
The film will be released in theaters on November 20, 2026.
