Booksology Out-of-print books are hot. Or is it them?
This short Q&A summary with reprint editors suggests that demand for out-of-print books is making a comeback in some form. It’s true that some new publications have come out in the past five years or so, but are these books selling well? It would have been nice to see trends in sales, including direction. Apparently some books are selling well, but if the assumption is that people admire old books, is there really any evidence for that? We are pleased with our new entry into this field and wish it success. But part of my question is, are these printers primarily benefiting from more favorable contracts?

Looking back at decades of work in a genre as wide-ranging and as vast as fantasy is quite astonishing. The form of fantasy literature in 2000 feels far removed from the fantasy literature of today. We’re here to recognize works that will continue to be widely read from the beginning of this century until 2025, that will inspire readers to find similar books, and that will forever remain in the halls of our hearts as fully realized and breathtaking as the mythical and magical creatures of these stories. In creating this list, as with all books released throughout the year, we looked back at some of our personal favorites, as well as books that changed the landscape of the genre and became instant classics. We looked at books that influenced culture beyond the page and spawned massive fandoms. Here are the fantasy books that have topped the charts this century so far.
