of Amazingly bright creatures Click here for the trailer
Making an octopus the narrator of a novel is either genius or terrible, but it’s an even trickier proposition for a movie. More than a million readers agree that Shelby Van Pelt did it with her popular bestseller Remarkably Bright Creatures, and if anyone can do it on film, it’s Alfred Molina and Sally Field. Molina will voice Marcellus, the giant Pacific octopus at the center of the story in the upcoming Netflix adaptation, and will voice Tovah, a widower played by Field who forms an unexpected bond with the creature. What a sentence! What strange times we live in, that an Oscar-winning actress and acclaimed actor is starring in a streaming version of Book Club’s hit series narrated by sea creatures. It’s not a bad thing, but it’s amazing.
