Reading skills for senior high school students in new lowlands

New federal test data provided disappointing news about reading and mathematics skills for 12th graders in the US reading comprehension. The biggest impact is seen among low performers. This involves learning English and children from low-income families. This leads to further widening income gaps and it is difficult to imagine a world that will have a lasting impact on the careers of children entering the AI-controlled workforce. (in parallel with book bans, poor reading comprehension and media literacy), and being an administrator who is completely unsafe about education, the view of lifting low performers doesn’t seem too hot.

The better news…

Louisville, Kentucky’s public school system has seen a surge in library use within a month to ban mobile phones across the system. It feels like there isn’t enough data to make a big declaration about the direct impact of mobile phone bans on reading, but other schools report similar trends, making the news particularly promising.
