They further argue that “Congress is not the president, and certainly not the dog, but the only entity that could legally dismantle the institution.”
President Ala Cindy Hall said in a statement:
“Libraries play an important role in our democracy, from maintaining history to providing access to government information, to improving literacy and civic engagement, to accessing a variety of perspectives. These values cannot threaten democracy by eliminating programs in IML and hurting libraries and communities.”
