SUNRISE ON THE REAPING Checkouts Up 515%, According to Libby
The Hunger Games is one of the most popular dystopian YA series. It sold 100 million copies worldwide and was adopted in films starring popular names, which has influenced publication overall.
And this series seems to have more to Tank.
We’ve already written about a massive release and how it sold over 1.5 million English copies in the first week. And as I regularly talk to Libby’s data analysts, I thought about adding some of their data to the conversation.
Libby Analyst compared checkout rates Sunrise of the harvest With that of songbirds and snake ballads – the release of the 2020 Hunger Games that came out just before sunrise– And it turns out that this series is only becoming more popular.
Compare with checkout numbers for the first month after release of Songbird and snake balladcheckout number Sunrise of the harvest Increased by 515%.
Meanwhile, other books in the series –Hunger Games, Mockingjay, and Light a fire– We experienced a 166% increase in checkout from 120% to 166% year-on-year.
It’s amazing how the series, first released 17 years ago, still has a very wide appeal. However, given that dystopian premise, this may not be so surprising.
As Collins himself said, Sunrise of the harvestI was inspired by David Hume’s idea of implicit obedience, and in his words, “it makes it easier for many people to be governed by a small number of people.” The story also delved deeper into the use of propaganda and the power of people to control the story. Are you asked “Is it real?”? It seems like he’s getting closer to me every day. ”
