Each year, three titles are selected in each of three categories: Adult, Young Adult, and Intermediate. For 2025, the selected titles are:

Summer Scares aims to introduce horror titles to schools and public library workers, so they will begin conversations with readers that have expanded beyond the books on each list and read for years to come. It can be promoted. In addition to an annual list of recommended titles, the annual Summer Scares programming guide created by the Springfield Green County (MO) Library is free to access the library and requires that the library connect with its users.
“The 2025 Guide, developed by the HWA Library Advisory Committee, is a roadmap for library workers, whether you are holding a summer event or planning a summer fear through summer fears. , a roadmap to provide an exciting and meaningful experience to patrons through the fear of summer. The Program Series states Konrad Stump, co-creator of the Programming Guide. “We will strengthen our partnership with IREAD by selecting one title for each age group that fits IREAD’s 2025 theme “Lead up in the library” and creating a sample partner program on input. In addition to the guide, The Summer Scares Committee works with both recommended list authors and horror writers across the country to provide free programming to the library. Any library that is about to host a horror-themed event is always recommended to start by emailing library@horror.org.

The summer 2025 program committee includes author Kendare Blake, co-chairs of the HWA Library Committee Becky Splatford and Conrad Stamp, as well as Academic Library Director Carolyn Sierra, Book Riot Editor; It consists of YA specialist Kelly Jensen, booklist editor and middle school specialist Julia Smith. and Manager of Leader Services at Novelist Yaika Sabat.
