When Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gableter first hit the stage in 1890, it remained true in a new adaptation directed by Nia Dacosta, starring Tessa Thompson. Ibsen’s story about a wealthy woman who feels trapped in her marriage (at best) her vague (at best) restlessness about the outlook of motherhood creates confusion in the lives of another couple. The Dacosta and Thompson update brings Header’s oppressed desires to the forefront by lesbian love triangles and friends.
