This month I thought I’d see what the nation’s largest library was reading at their book club. Having obtained library size information, ALA classifies the “big” library classification in several different ways. There are classifications based on distribution, holdings, or library visits. I decided to look at the population size and collection expenditures. I think this statistic has an additional bonus to let you know a little more about the community that surrounds the library.

Below is what I read in one of the three largest libraries in the United States and one of the book clubs of the month. Included in the book you Books from 2024, Mystery with Cases for a 20-Year-Old, Meditation of Relationship Dynamics and Granular Identity.

Audition Book Cover

Audition by Katie Kitamura

Here, a skilled actress and a charming young man meet for lunch at a Manhattan restaurant. Who they are with each other is a question that Kitamura’s story unfolds except that it extends the question to all relationships. Seeing dynamics, or roles, along with the different people in our lives, shows that even those who we think know us best, are constantly auditioning.
