Richard Scully and the Art of Children’s Literature
Chrisware (Building Story) offers a lovely and informative appreciation of Richard Scarley on its 50th anniversary Cars, trucks, and what to go It turns into a miniature history of children’s books that move from gorgeous gift items to everyday objects we have just come to. There are very few gems like this:
“Scarley has been writing books for another 20 years.

Pride and prejudice to be re-released to theatres on April 20, 2005
Before Knightly/McFayden P&P, the Colin Firth BBC adaptation was the standard version. I don’t think that’s true anymore. This is a regular re-watch for me, with McFaden, Sutherland, Knightley and Pike repeatedly tied (though Tom Hollander’s Mr. Collins and Dame Dench’s Lady Catherine are great villagers to hate). This book has always been a major part of me, but I have to admit that films can do things that sometimes can’t. For me, there is no better example than the flexion of McFaden/Darcy’s hand at a climactic meeting with Lizzie. I don’t think I caught this in the theatre 20 years ago, so this gives me the opportunity to improve it.
“I believe that the ban on books is as historical as modern phenomena.
