Most notable is the fact that nearly half of Spotify’s audiobook consumers started listening within the last year, many of whom had never tried the format before audiobooks were included in Spotify Premium.

  • This means that the platform’s foray into audiobooks has not only led to a swapping of deckchairs between the major players in the field, but has actually created new consumers for the format.

What’s next? Spotify is building on the success of Audiobooks+ by adding new tiers that offer even more listening time, with plans to introduce Family and Student plans later this year.
