
The Winners of the 2026 Pulitzer Prizes
Just 124 days into 2026, the 2025 book awards season is finally coming to an end. The Pulitzer Prizes, which celebrate excellence in journalism, literature, theater and music in the United States, were announced this afternoon in a ceremony livestreamed from Columbia University.
Before announcing the winners, Administrator Marjorie Miller reiterated the Pulitzer family’s full commitment and support for the First Amendment and freedom of the press.
First, let me say something that shouldn’t be said: The Pulitzer Prize supports the First Amendment. We believe in access to government agencies and independent news organizations. We support civil debate and oppose censorship. Unfortunately, this is happening again today, as media access to the White House and Pentagon is restricted, free speech on the streets is challenged, and the President of the United States files multibillion-dollar lawsuits for defamation and malice against multiple print and broadcast media outlets.
