BookCon is back, leaving attendees with bruises.

BookCon has been popular and controversial since its inception in 2014. While most book conventions are aimed at professionals, BookCon focuses on fans and bookworm influencers. It was revived this year after a seven-year hiatus, and it sparked a lot of discussion. ARC is Advanced Reader Copy. A free pre-publication version of a book intended to promote upcoming titles. You can find these books at most book conventions, and competition for popular books can be heated. However, at BookCon 2026, this seemed to get out of control, with attendees describing it as a “mosh pit” with people crowding in and crowding around.
