I love this quote from Nana Kwame Ajayi Breniya on winning the 2025 Chain Gang All-Star Award:
There is no doubt that this is the highest honor a book of this type can receive. I take that to mean that those who judged me believed that I was not careless or insensitive, and that I used the words as if they were true. This retroactive order is a gift I will never be able to repay, but one for which I will be forever grateful. I would like to thank everyone at Inside, both those who judged and those who did not. This award is dedicated to all of you.
Victor LaValle’s new adaptation is here!
Victor LaValle’s catalog of adaptations continues to grow. A series adaptation of The Devil in Silver is coming to AMC+ and Shudder, with LaValle co-writing and showrunning alongside Chris Cantwell (Stop and catch fire). This is a new addition to the anthology series. terrorism A work that follows a working-class man admitted to a psychiatric hospital where the devil may live. The six-episode limited series will be executive produced by Ridley Scott. Cantwell said of working with and adapting LaValle’s work, “It was an incredible experience to stand side by side with Victor LaValle and bring his masterpiece novels to the screen. His stories are certainly full of death and horror, but they are also full of beauty and the flickering yet impregnable light of our fragile humanity.”
