“Many of my long-time passions are brought together in this book: experimental music and literature, adventure stories, philosophy, 19th century youth novels, and noir novels,” he said. “Ply is also a natural continuation of the myths of modernity. The book jacket is ready. Then Charlie Kirk was shot.
Murder Bimbo was on my list of books to keep an eye on this spring. The concept of a sex worker murdering a conservative politician was bold, satirical, and a fittingly eye-catching title. So I have some sympathy for how real-life events get in the way of publishing a book like this. However, I also have doubts about making light of killing people, even in the name of satire. This is not to say that people shouldn’t be allowed to write these kinds of books, or that people shouldn’t read them. In fact, once you dip your toe into the brackish waters of political violence, you shouldn’t be too surprised if things get a little dirty.
Longlist for Women’s Prize Non-Fiction announced
Let me tell you, 16 titles is too many for a long list. I’m sure there are at least 10 great books I’d like to feature, but 16 is too many. Now, with that out of the way, let’s listen to Mother Mary Comes to Me by Arundhati Roy. This is doubly great on audio (I haven’t read it in print either, I’m just guessing). Finalists will be announced on March 25th and the winner will be announced on June 11th. The winner will receive a cash prize of £30,000. ofthe largest prize for non-fiction.
