Where to start with Thomas Pynchon
Maybe you’re one of those people who’ve always heard of the famous hidden, brilliant and difficult Thomas Pynchon. Maybe you have one or two under your belt. Maybe you’re a perfectionist. There’s something in AO Scott’s Guide for all Pynchon (and Pynchon-Curious) readers. As for me, I have a very standard Rec for anyone wanting to grab a seat at the Pynchong Carousel: the cry of lot 49. Not only is it perhaps the easiest to access, it is also the shortest. After all, not everyone wants to stay on the ride.

Will a dedicated social media app work in 2025?
Bindery Books is an influencer-focused publisher that combines new books with social media influencers and social micro publishers. Essentially, people with meaningful online platforms can get some of the action to hype the book. This type of business is subject to social media algorithms. So it makes some sense that Bindery is interested in his own app, that they have control over it. The devilish bit is to let people use it. Other demonic bits follow (large content moderation is a nasty business), but it rarely makes it far.
