I’ll talk when I’m in Hara Arian’s house.

Poet Hara Aliyan makes the difficult decision to become a parent through a surrogate after years of dealing with infertility. While she waits for her child to enter the world, Alyan struggles with her marriage and the reels from news that Beirut, the youth city, is experiencing a rise in violence.

In her lyrical prose, Arian explains how to pin her to the present moment in the Palestinian family’s past stories in times of crisis.

Mother Mary's cover graphics come to me

Mother Mary comes to Arundhati Roy

Legendary author Arundhati Roy writes about her experience growing up with a single mother in Kerala, India. Her mother, Mary, passed away in 2022, and Roy was surprised at the depths of her sadness. She began writing about her mother, “To be able to continue to love her.”

Although Roy’s relationship with his mother was complicated, this first memoir from a praised writer is an incredible anti-mination of sadness and the messiness of a truly loved one.
