The game has shifted. Your parents can’t convey the difference between AI videos and reality. My local bagel shop uses AI-generated images when iPhone photos work better. Anyone can look capable. Fewer people are capable.

Big Book Season is the best author profile season
I didn’t want to be fascinated more than this day I sat down to discover New Yorker Patricia Lockwood’s profile is already beyond the level that we expect from Patricia Lockwood’s profile and Jia Tolentino, who reviewed Elizabeth Gilbert’s new memoirs. It’s a truly original pairing and my hat leaned farther towards the editor who assigned it. These works are for gentle, rich texts to be placed.
Hedda Gabler gets a sly new spin
Boring, rich women with time in hand have always been bad news. When Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gableter first hit the stage in 1890, it remained true in a new adaptation directed by Nia Dacosta, starring Tessa Thompson. Ibsen’s story about a wealthy woman who feels trapped in her marriage (at best) her vague (at best) restlessness about the outlook of motherhood creates confusion in the lives of another couple. The Dacosta and Thompson update brings Header’s oppressed desires to the forefront by lesbian love triangles and friends.
