First, there is Fosin. Fosin was once a nun, but was able to devise potions to purify the castle’s water, which made her a castle’s madman. The king insists that Phosyne must continue experimenting until he can come up with a way to make enough food for everyone. When the constant woman and her saint appear out of nowhere, Fosin thinks she must have summoned them, but something seems grossly wrong.

Then there’s Night Cell Boyne. Ser Voyne was once a hero of war, but now he is forced to watch over Phosyne. Initially, when certain women arrive, Voin pledges loyalty to the Savior. However, Ser Voyne soon discovers how powerful the God’s form is.

Finally, I get Treila, perhaps my personal favorite character. Treila may look like a servant girl, but she was once a noble woman. Before the constant woman appears, Treyla struggles to escape from Aimer Castle, looking for a way to revenge on Sel Voin, the knight in charge of falling from Treyla’s bounty.

As the castle descends into insanity, our three main characters enter and exit a state of delusion, fighting to find their own path. Who are the saints and certain women? What do they want from the castle?

As tensions grow, you, your dear reader, may feel deeply swirled into your own ominous heat dreams. And really, what more can you ask for from the best anti-beach reads of 2025?
